Hi ppl!
(or at least those who're reading this...)
It's soojin!
So... hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! our family went to Sai Kung, which is by the sea, and had lots of cute dogs there. (esp. this dog which had on a pink tutu!! adorable!!!!!! *ahem*)
pink... reminds me. Thanks Eric for making this blog so PINK!!! I love pink. For those who don't know... my whole bed's pink. my comforter, my cover sheet, my sheet, my bedcase, my pillow... heck, even my stuffed fluffy rabbit (my bed companion) is pink! (and right now, my pj's are pink too!) So thank you!!!
Hope everyone's having a fun time!
I know I am... even though I miss Oxy lots and lots, it's really great seeing old friends again, those who made it back to HK.
Seems like if I'm not sleeping, I'm hanging out with friends. (and vice versa) Unfortunately, they're mostly in UK or Canadian unis, which means they're all leaving at the beginning of January... what am I gonna do until the 19th???
which reminds me... what am I gonna do about jetlag? I died when I first came here... I kept on waking up at the wee hours - at 3am, every morning, I'd wake up and lie on my bed looking at the darkness around me. Not very fun. Then, every afternoon at 4pm, I'd get really tired. so the first week was really tiring. T.T;;
But the weather here is really nice. It's humid, so my skin is no longer dry or cracked, and it's really warm! all of my friend and I are all wearing thin layers, and I kinda regret not bringing my shorts with me. the night too, is warm. unlike LA... which turns really really cold when the sun goes down.
What else am I doing? I'm watching a lot of VCDs, most of which I got for $20 each. (so it's 20/8 for you guys... and we don't have sales tax, ha!) so I've been watching a lot of movies on my laptop. and I still have another pile to go!
hm... tax. yea, all of my friends and I are complaining of tax problems in our respective countries.. England, Canada and America. We're still complaining, and seirously, I'm not joking, we even have this competition where we decide which country has the most sales tax. England's won - 17.7%. My friends can't even buy oranges cos they're expensive, and they're the cheapest food to buy. (Hope Chad'll be kind in UK.)
And tipping! wow... I haven't tipped since I came here... except for that $1. 10% service charge is added anyway... but isn't that like in the US too?
Public transporation service is great! except that the KCR and MTR has merged... to form MTR. now it's slightly confusing. it was pretty shocking. KCR (Kowloon Canton Railway) and MTR (Mass Transit Railway) were the two biggest and only forms of railway transport. but now it's the MTR. great. (but there's no big change, except for the maps, so I'm not too upset about it)
SO that's been my little holiday so far. I'm meeting all of my friends here for the last time this year on Monday before the English ppl go away. Then the Canadians... then it's me.
Hope everyone in Newcomb bible study has enjoyed their break, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
soojin
ps.
has everyone received their billing for the new semester yet? we haven't... and isn't the deadline jan 1? O.o;;
maybe it's my address... -.-;;

thank you for sharing! i learned so many things from this post: how much you love pink, when students from the UK or canada go back to school, the name of a form of public transportation in HK, taxes (or lack thereof) in HK, and your jet-lag-ness!
highly informative
