things i'll be thinking about (hopefully)

hey guys!
i'm currently thinking (or going to start thinking) about whether i'm going to go to summer missions or not (i would be going to the Los Angeles Urban Project). i'm probably gonna have a talk with matt during the first week of january, so i'll be thinking about it quite a bit and trying to talk to god about it and trying to listen. i guess i have these questions: why do i want to go? is it a good time for me to go? how might god grow me there?

i've also been thinking about studying abroad my junior year. unfortunately, i haven't taken any language classes at oxy cause i was exempted cause of Ap testing. so if i wanna go somewhere other than england, australia, or costa rica, i gotta start next semester (which is an issue in itself kinda). i want to include god in such decisions. BUT i was also thinking that i don't want to just ask god for guidance whenever i make a decision JUST so that everything will work out for the best. i think it'll be a good chance for me to really think about why and how i want god to be a real presence in my life. i don't want to see him as a genie god. does he care what kind of decision i make? how does that all fit into how i interact with him when i'm not having to make "big" decisions? i'll be thinking about that stuff hopefully...

also, riley and i are planning a road trip up to spokane, washington, dorian's crib! we're all really excited! but we're not sure where we'll visit along the way.. any ideas are welcome :)

peace,
eric

yea i think you have great questions! i see that talking to matt will be helpful in making decisions :) i guess my question to you is.. is there anything that's making you stay away from going?

hmm languages.. ooh is there any study abroad program to Korea? or South Africa would be another option too :) i personally think you should study abroad!!! it's such a great opportunity. i went abroad in the summer instead but i'm sooo glad i did it!

Yeah! Wooooot!
I'm pumped.

And will be praying. Maybe by the time the trip rolls around I'll be able to impart wisdom to you.
I do want you to go so you can tell me all about it.

studying abroad is a big decision to make... there's a lot of thought and effort going into the process. i think that not knowing a different language shouldn't be a deterent (ps. what's wrong with the english speaking countries? lots of culture that the US doesnt have... =P). but yeah like yumi said, it's a great opportunity to learn and grow closer to God, to the world, to yourself...

anyway i'm jealous of you west coasters seeing each other. all i have to say is take a pit stop in san fran for me because it's my favorite city... almost ever. haha good luck planning!
